I have entered a blog competition, The Big Blog Exchange. I want to try promote myself further in the world of blogging, so please if you like my site and think I deserve to win, please vote for me. As it’s been a while since I had a nice wildlife blog, I thought […]
Recently I revisited the Samburu People living nearby Maralal, in Northern-Central Kenya. They are known to have come from South Sudan and some even believe the Israelites. They are cousins to the better known Maasai People of Southern Kenya who separated from them around 500 years ago; they share the same language of Maa but […]
On Saturday a group of friends and I went to drive the sand dunes in Vlees Bay. We only got really stuck once, which did take a good half an hour of digging to free the jeep! Check out the photos to see the adventure we had.
What an amazingly beautiful place, De Hoop has safari for animals, like deer, zebra, baboons, ostrich etc… But it also has sand dunes and ocean with sandy beaches and rock pools to play in. One of my favourite places in South Africa so far.
The night time shoot was a lot of fun, still unsure as to how successful it was, but fun all the same. We played around with light to create the tree and the faces and then long exposures for the stars.
I love the macro lens, it makes even the most uninteresting objects appear exciting. I got totally lost at De Hoop in my own little Macro world, small plants became trees and little ants became a meter long in my mind. Go find your Macro world!
Birds of Eden this time round was a much more enjoyable and less stressful experience. Even at feeding time when I definitely felt i had become one of the birds getting so close and being involved with the squabbling for food! Macaws wings are surprisingly large and strong!
Second shoot at monkey land, I definitely think that I have improved from the last time I went to this place. Monkey’s are definitely not the easiest animals to photograph as they are moving fast in and out of patchy light and sometimes hiding high up in the trees!
The second chum trip was a lot of fun, saw a couple of great white sharks, but have to say that actually the highlight was playing with a seal we named Savannah. She was very cute and came right up to the boat spraying us with water. This time there was no sea sickness and […]
The Garden Route Game Lodge was a great place for photographing. It was also a good insight into what is necessary for a game lodge day in day out, we followed around the workers watching them check fences, deal with erosion, general check up of animals in the park and feeding of breeding cheetahs. Definitely […]
